Uzbakistan Central Asia High Road - [ Tours ]

11 Day Itinerary



Today depart London Heathrow at 2115 on the Uzbekistan Airlines flight to Tashkent.



Upon arrival in Tashkent this morning at 0805 meet your general guide, who will escort the group throughout whilst in Uzbekistan. Your guide will transfer you to the centrally located Tashkent Palace Hotel (or similar), where you can check into your room on arrival. After checking in (breakfast is also included) enjoy the rest of the morning at leisure before meeting your guide in the hotel reception at midday. This afternoon enjoy an introductory guided tour of Tashkent, the most cosmopolitan city in Uzbekistan. The city tour will include the Old City, Brak-Khan Madrassah, Yunus-Khan Mausoleum, Kaffal-al Shashi Mazar, Kukeldash Madrassah, Museum of Applied Art, Independence Square, Friendship People’s Square and the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (exterior only). At the end of the excursion you will be returned to your hotel and have the evening free at your leisure.  (B,L)



This morning depart early from Tashkent and head southwest to Samarkand, a journey which will take approximately five hours. Samarkand is famous for its position on the Silk Road and was the capital of the Timur Empire in the 14th century – the city is a UNESCO world heritage site. On arrival and after checking in at the Asia Samarkand Hotel (or similar) for a two night stay, commence sightseeing in the city, with a tour of the Registan Complex (the heart of ancient Samarkand). After the excursion return to your hotel for the rest of the afternoon and evening free at leisure.  (B,L)



Today spend the day sightseeing in Samarkand. You will visit the Guri-Emir Mausoleum (mausoleum of Tamerlane), the famous Bibi-Khanym Mosque, 15th century Ulugbek Observatory and the Shakhi-Zinda necropolis in the north east of the city. At the end of the excursion enjoy the rest of the afternoon and the evening free at leisure. (B,L)



This morning finish off any final sightseeing after checking out of your hotel. After lunch in Samarkand drive west to Bukhara, a journey of around 5 hours. The region around Bukhara has been inhabited for at least five millennia and the historic centre of Bukhara, which contains numerous mosques and madrassas, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ethnic Tajiks constitute the majority in Bukhara, but the city has historically had a wide mix of ethnicities. On arrival in Bukhara check into the Asia Bukhara Hotel (or similar) for a three night stay. (B,L)



Spend the  day   touring  Bukhara.  Visit the Lyabi - Hauz  Complex, Samanid’   Mausoleum, Nadir Divanbegi

Madrassah, the Ark  (Ancient Fortress),  Chasma  Ayub  Mazar, Poi - Kalan  Complex  and  the Ulugbek   Madrassah. The night will be spent back at the Asia Bukhara Hotel. (B,L)



Today spend a further day touring Bukhara. You will visit Sitorai Mokhi Khosa, the Summer Palace of the Bukharan Emirs, Bolo Khauz Mosque and the Bakhoutdin Nakshbandy Complex and Mausoleum. From mid afternoon enjoy the rest of the day free to explore our favourite Uzbek city at your leisure.  (B,L)



Today make a drive of around eight hours to Khiva, stopping on the banks of the Amu Darya River en-route as you head northwest, near to the border with Turkmenistan. On arrival in Khiva check into the Asia Khiva Hotel (or similar)  for a two night stay. (B,L)



Today spend the day touring the small city of Khiva. You will here visit Ichan-Kala, Mohammed-Amin Khan Madrassah and Minaret, Kunya Ark, Pakhlavan Mahmud Complex, Islam Khodja Madrassah and Minaret, Jumma Mosque, Tash Hauli Allakuli-Khan Palace and the Bazaar. At the end of the excursion return to your hotel. (B,L)

DAY 10


This morning transfer to the airport in nearby Urgench and depart on the domestic flight to Tashkent (flight times TBC). On arrival back in Tashkent return to the Tashkent Palace Hotel (or similar) for your final night in Uzbekistan. This afternoon there will be further sightseeing (flight schedule permitting) of Tashkent before enjoying your last evening in Uzbekistan free at leisure. (B,L)

DAY 11

FLY TO home

This morning check out of the Tashkent Palace Hotel. Your guide will arrange a few last hours of sightseeing in Tashkent before you enjoy a final lunch and transfer to the airport. Depart Tashkent at 1630 on the HY201 Uzbekistan Airways flight to London Heathrow. On arrival in London at 2000 the tour will come to an end. (B)
