Pakistan Mintaka and Kilik Pass Trek - [ Trekking ]

Range:             Karakoram

Altitude:          Min: 600m - Max: 4027m

Zone:               Open

Duration:         15 Days

Best Time:        June - September

The Mintaka Pass remained the only strategic route in ancient times. The trail to Kilik pass begins on the Kilik River’s true right bank, leaving the Khilik river, head left up a rocky hillside trail to the level grassy area above continue north across the broad rolling pamir to Khilik pass (4827m). After the glaciations of the Mintaka Pass, the Kilik Pass was favored by caravans coming from China and Afghanistan as it is wider, free of glaciers and provided enough pasture for caravan animals. For more than 1000 years, Kilik and Mintaka were the Silk Routes primary passes between China and Hunza and today these broad valleys and extensive alpine meadows, once closed to foreigners, are again accessible. There is a beautiful lush green camp side with running spring water and making this one of northern Pakistan's easiest treks. Both of this valley is used as summer pastures by the people from Misghar village and this valley is also famous because of the wild donkeys.
